Precisely. To me, it all comes down to the line, "The child will not be harmed?" He had to get that confirmation, on top of *her* desire to go. (Though, I *love* his hesitation at the answer he's given, as he's the one person in a position to not see 'she'll live forever' as a positive thing at all.) And yes, John Barrowman's acting just keeps getting better and better, every time I think it's no longer possible. *g*

If something like this happened to Jack before, it was probably in his Time Agent days, when he was young and stupid. As huge, disastrous decisions are wont to.
